About the workshop:

  • Self-care is not just the latest buzzword. It’s essential for anyone who works in a helping profession. You can’t pour from an empty cup so making sure your own cup is filled first just makes logical sense. Join me for an interactive but gentle approach to boot camp training. In the 60 minutes we spend together we’ll define "self-care", the different ways helpers can be affected and practice a variety of easy strategies to help keep your "self-care" cup filled.

About the workshop:

  • This session focuses on the updating of the First Nations, Inuit, Métis Essential Skills (FIMES) Inventory Project (www.fimesip.ca ). We will report on the inventory of innovative First Nations, Inuit and Métis Essential Skills Initiatives across Canada and highlight the 12 Markers of Promising Practices. During the session we will share a self-assessment tool based on the 12 Markers that can be used to develop and strengthen FIMES programming.

About the presenter:

  • Suzanne Klinga has over 30 years’ experience as s a career development practitioner and is a Project Manager with the Canadian Career Development Foundation. Her expertise includes facilitation, research, program design and essential skills profiling. Most recently she has focused on the development and delivery of competency-based professional development training programs for First Nations and Inuit Career Development Practitioners throughout Canada.
