Assistant Manager - Outreach

Summary:

Assists with the day-to-day operations of the program by supervising and/or co-ordinating activities of Service Assistant(s) in assigned location(s). Participates in staff recruitment, curriculum development/enhancement, training, and project evaluations. As required, provides input into program enhancements, and assists in the preparation of program proposals and the annual budgeting process. Performs reporting and administrative functions as per program and organizational requirement

Reporting to: Senior Manager – Career Services

Responsibilities:

  • Develops and implements marketing and advertising campaigns, plans, presentations, and calendar of events informed by local and provincial trends and partnerships.
  • Manages relationships with external partners focused on referring new clients into the Career Paths program.
  • Tracks and reports on KPIs for intake of new clients and ROI on marketing initiatives.
  • Supervises program frontline staff dedicated to client inquiries and marketing by performing such activities as overseeing training and providing day-to-day operational guidance, monitoring and supervision. Assists in the recruitment of new staff and provides input into and conducts performance evaluations for these staff. Oversees volunteers assigned to the program.
  • Co-ordinates the scheduling and deployment of staff for group sessions at ISSofBC sites and partners’ sites.
  • Reviews program client files to ensure files are entered into database systems as per established procedures. As required, audits funder’s reporting system to ensure accuracy of data transferred.
  • Prepares and maintains caseload distribution, ensuring effective flow of new clients to frontline staff.
  • Provides assistance, crisis management and subsequent follow-up for high needs clients including coordinating interventions with appropriate agencies.
  • Monitors the progress of participants and consults with the Senior Manager regarding any unresolved issues/problems.
  • Ensures that employment services and interventions provided are consistent with program objectives and funder’s prescribed process.
  • Supports other key business areas of the Career Paths program as required.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

University degree or post-secondary training in social services or other related field, supplemented by a minimum of three (3) years recent, related experience in employment counselling and/or adult training OR a combination of education, training, and experience acceptable to the employer.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to create, manage and analyse KPIs on digital campaigns and community-based outreach to partners and stakeholders.
  • Previous experience and demonstrated ability to drive program marketing efforts and meet program recruitment targets.
  • Demonstrated supervisory experience including hiring, training, and staff evaluation.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in both written and oral English. 
  • Ability to deal effectively with clientele, staff and the public who come from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the labour market, including issues and trends.
  • Experience in cross-cultural counselling in addressing issues disclosed by multi-barriered clients
  • Service-oriented with a demonstrated willingness to help the department and the organization achieve desired objectives and targets.
  • Proficiency in all aspects of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Possession of and the ability to maintain a clear provincial criminal record check.
  • Ability to set and maintain boundaries with clients and manage self-care.
  • Ability to carry out the duties of the position.
