Employment Placement Specialist - Job Development

The Role

he Employment Placement Specialist (EPS) performs a job development role by supporting clients in job search activities to secure work experiences, training on the job opportunities, volunteer positions and paid employment opportunities. They will initiate and build relationships with employers and source work experience placement opportunities for clients. The EPS will also provide follow up support to clients on the worksite to help clients in their goals of long-term employment

Responsibilities

Key Duties:

• Analyze and utilize current local labour market information to source employment opportunities for participants;
• Coach and support participants as they look for work;
• Initiate, promote, organize and host a wide range of industry/employer events to enhance participant employment opportunities;
• Assist employers with on boarding and the development of training;
• Provide ongoing guidance and follow up support to both employers and clients in volunteer and employment placements;
• Participate in local business and industry meetings (i.e. Chamber of Commerce);
• Provide assistance in the creation of a strategic marketing plan for the Centre;

Reporting, Tracking and Teamwork Activities:
• Keep records of all participants/employers
• Consistently review client outcomes against performance targets, contributing strategies to ensure program targets are met.

• Ensure documentation is entered into WorkBC database ICM (Integrated Case Management)

• Perform additional duties as assigned.

To be Successful
 

• Post-Secondary degree, in an employment services related field or, equivalent level of knowledge and experience;
• Certified Career Development Practitioner (CCDP) an asset;
• Certificate or diploma in Job Development an asset;

Demonstrated experience:

• Building and maintaining partnerships with employers, community agencies and other stakeholders.

• Providing customer service and resolving issues;
• Demonstrated knowledge of the labour market in Maple Ridge and BC;

In addition;
• Strong oral, written and communication skills an asset;
• Ability to adapt to a flexible schedule
• Willingness to travel within the Lower Mainland ;
• Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle;
• Good computer skills: MS Office Suite, database entry and the use of online-demand meeting applications and desk-top sharing;
• Satisfactory completion of a criminal record check.
