VOLUNTEER RESOURCES COORDINATOR

POSITION:  

Volunteer Resources Coordinator

DEPARTMENT:

Client Services

POSITION FUNCTION:

Under the general supervision of the Senior Manager for Quality Improvement and Data Management, the Volunteer Resources Coordinator is responsible for the creation and coordination of the Volunteer Resources program at MOSAIC. The Coordinator provides ongoing support, guidance, resources and tools to employees who supervise volunteers;assesses and meets the organization’s volunteer needs, and recruits, places and ensures retention of volunteers.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Good working knowledge of emergent immigrant settlement issues and needs, volunteer management practices, approaches to community bridging and capacity building.
  • Strong foundation in project management as well as volunteer management skills and community development practices.
  • University/ College degree in a relevant field or combination of education and experience in areas such as: volunteer development, conflict resolution, community development or community social services.
  • Some experience (1-2 years) in managing volunteer services, dealing with volunteer engagement and budgeting. Experience in implementing volunteer recruitment, placement and supervision strategies. Experience with spreadsheet and database software applications.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, good supervisory, problem-solving, time management and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication skills with a diverse group of people.
  • Able to work independently and with a team and to motivate, engage and provide strong leadership to staff and volunteers.

 

  • Flexible and able to work under pressure on multiple tasks in a fast paced changing environment with volume of requests.

 

  • Highly cooperative, tactful, versatile, diplomatic, flexible and cheerful.

 

Desirable Skills/Experience:

  • Experience working with immigrants and refugees from diverse cultural backgrounds. 3-4 years of experience in volunteering with community organizations. Fluency in a second language is considered an asset.

 

  • Experience with spreadsheet and database software applications.

 

  • Experience in event planning

 

HOURS:

35 hours per week (Full-Time)

 

  STARTING PAY:

$43,152.00 - $48,576.00 per annum (based on experience)
