POSTING: Resource Advisor
Permanent Full Time (35 hours per week)

An opportunity exists for a Resource Advisor. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting participants using the resource room to:
- provide one to one support to participants using the resource room
- quickly establish rapport, refer to community services and/or refer to case management services when basic eligibility and need is determined
- keep resource room materials current and relevant
- monitor and maintain the integrity of the resource room guidelines; communicate rules and guidelines of the centre on an ongoing basis
- address participant issues with immediacy using nonviolent crisis intervention skills and conflict resolution
- work collaboratively with all staff to support participant needs in the resource room
- maintain clear and concise documentation of work with case managed participants on ICM
- provide 1 to 1 workshop topics to clients when identified by Case Managers and/or Facilitators and/or Leadership Team and/or Resource Room staff
Other duties:
- Support the centre’s marketing and advertising initiatives
- Participate in the set up and staffing of Job Fairs
- Provide break and/or leave coverage for other roles as needed
- Provide backup coverage to Facilitators for workshops
- Address facility issues as needed
- Complete Preliminary Needs Assessments
- Issue job start or job search financial supports to support tier 1 participants
QUALIFICATIONS
Education, Training and Experience:
- Certificate in Office Administration from an accredited college or equivalent combination of education and experience within the employment field
- Experience in motivating and supporting clients in job search activities
Job Skills and Abilities:
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, interpersonal skills and confidence in dealing with difficult clients
- Proficiency with MS Office, ICM, databases, data entry, and navigating the Internet
- Excellent knowledge of using and trouble-shooting a variety of office equipment
- Competent in relating to a very diverse clientele and sincere appreciation for a multicultural environment; patient and calm when handling challenging situations
- Ability to organize and carry out duties with independence and professionalism
- Comfortable working in a multi-tasking, fast-paced environment
- Knowledge of LM trends, as well as job search and other community resources
- Alert to the needs of a performance-based business model
- Second language an asset
- Crisis Line training is an asset

- This position will be located at our Partner’s WorkBC site (Fleetwood/Guildford ESC)
- An eligibility list will be maintained for up to 6 months
